Birthday, Busy Days, and KITTENS

Wow I cannot believe how incredibly fast this month is going, I blinked and its almost done already!!! I have been working, and doing odd jobs to save up money, and packing, and generally going a little nuts! I did get a slight break on my birthday however which was nice, and I had a great time. I have a few photos to share really quick today. And the best one may be the adorable kittens that my friend has at her house, she is trying to find homes for them, and I would so totally take one if I wasn't about to move. I'll save the best for last and show you my other pics first. ;)

Trying a dress (don't mind the hanger strap thing lol)

On my birthday I went out shopping and got some neat stuff, and then had dinner with my family. The above was a dress I almost got...almost. But I did find other cute things that I did buy, and the following pic is one of those that I just couldn't pass up....

I also went to a dessert reception for the anniversary of a local jewelry business in town, it was a lot of fun! This was my outfit, tried to dress it up a little bit but not be overdone. The wide leg velour pants were another Newport News purchase, they are pretty comfy. :) By the way, anyone had trouble making returns to Newport? I returned items that didn't fit and they were received and even when I called them and they 'found' my apparently lost return items my refund hasn't show up. It's been two months...

And the end of this quick posting is:  KITTENS!!!!

AHHH!!! Soooo cute!!

May Monthly Homework

My most prized possessions that I would save if my home were to be destroyed...hmmm. This assignment got me thinking about what I value and would not want to be without. I was thinking about it all day today and have concluded that of my material possessions there is very little that cannot be replaced.

I have items made for me by friends and loved ones, those of course would be very difficult to lose, but I would not risk my life to save one in particular at this point in time. I know that I always have the love and support of those people forever with me, even if I do not have the item which they lovingly took time and thoughtfulness to make or gift to me.

My cat would be something that I would want to save of course, that or any pet would be a given. I don't know how I would handle the situation with an animal in all honesty so I will be thinking about that one for a while. I don't know what I would do if an animal life was involved, because I would think a life tops a material item in most cases, however depending on other things its a very tough call.

I think the material item I would reach for first would be my external hard drive to be completely honest. Why? Well, it contains the work of three+ years of my life in school earning my degree and all my graphics work entirely. Therefore in essence hours of my time and work are contained in it.
It contains my most valued pictures once we switched to digital rather than film, so my old family photos here would be lost, but other family members have pics of me as a baby and my parents wedding and so on so those are not anything I would never see again. I am the only one who has the copies of most digital things taken with my own camera however. There are files on there that I do treasure, whether it be digital items designed for me by other artists or music that holds a special place in my heart etc.

I could say I would love to save heirloom jewelry if I had such a thing, or a favorite stuffed animal from childhood, or something like that, but I just don't know, that isn't what springs into my mind. I guess the first thing that occurs to me is what I stated before. Perhaps on further reflection this will change, but at the moment this is the best answer I can give. :)

Hair, Nails, News, and an Outfit!

First thing you may notice about my photos in this post is that my hair is black! Yay! I had black hair a while back, and I've been missing it a lot and so I went black again. I wanted it and also I am doing a cosplay which black hair may be better in...if I get to actually do it before I move I shall post pics! Anyone else enjoy cosplaying out there? I've really only gotten into it this past year, but I have fun with my friends here. When I move I don't know if I will do more, not sure where to find a group of people interested in it!

Black hair! :D

My outfit is a standard one for me, layers and black and gray coloring, but I love this jacket so much. I'm very into militaristic/piratey looking pieces with buttons!

Must have had dust on my lens -
or orbs were floating around me!

I also notice that I seem to be in a phase of wearing scarves and brooches right now. I just find myself adding them to many of my work outfits and looking for new ways to wear them. This coral brooch was my grandmothers:

And...I soaked off my fake nails and so am back to polishing my natural nails. I find myself reaching for a lot of earthy colors at the moment like this terra cotta polish. I never would have gone for those before, I didn't like muddy or brown/earthen tones on nails, but I tried one color and loved it and now am experimenting. This look is Sinful Colors 'Pandora' and a random gold polish I had laying around. What do you all think of earth/natural tones on fingernails? I do have one nail that is trying to split right now because I keep catching it on things at work, I hope it doesn't so I can keep my nails long!

In other news, I'm making progress with my plans to move and the time is flying by at an alarming pace. Really, where did the first half of May start disappearing to??? My birthday is this month, I shall be 24. I figure that's a good age to have a new adventure and move a thousand miles from my home. Just hoping it all falls into place, which I know it will if its meant to be! I can't wait to see what this year will bring!

A Couple Random Eye Makeups

I haven't taken too many photos in the last week or two but I did snap a couple shots of looks that I wore out on two separate days so I figure I will share them. I wasn't really going for anything in particular with these, in fact the green and blue look I messed up what I was intending to do, partially redid it three times, and this is the result!

I am wondering how my makeup routine will change once I move, I'm going somewhere that has much more heat and sun regularly than I have been accustomed to on the average day in my current state! For that matter my clothing will have to change quite a bit as well to suit the climate, I'm sure I will make do but I can't afford to have a whole new wardrobe at the moment! I'll manage somehow and figure out how to make it so my foundation etc won't melt off my face! :P

Outfit, Makeup, and Life Update!

So a lot has been happening for me recently, mainly the fact that plans are coming together for my possible move across the country! Its all not quite settled yet, but I may very likely be moving this summer, and I'm very excited and also nervous. I hope everything falls into place, it will be an excellent sign that I am meant to go!

In other news I have been working, and working on staying sane while at work. We have a new boss and its been interesting getting used to the way she wants things done, where she wants things to go, and so on. Things will go smoother now that its been a week or two, but it was quite interesting there for a little bit. Anyways, I've been going non-stop it seems like with work and other things! I have relatives getting married, and helping friends out with things, and so on and so forth. Just busy-ness!! I do have a few photos to share today of recent outfits and makeup though :)

My makeup for this looks odd in the photos, I didn't get a good shot of it either unfortunately, but I did winged eyeliner and my waterline is lined with white eyeliner so that is perhaps why it looks like I'm so sleepy or something in the photos. It didn't look that way in person, promise!

I love this shirt that I was wearing, the lighting was a little different in this photo but it is the same shirt as above. Its very feminine without overdoing it and the detail on the back is very pretty. The sweater I was wearing in the above pics also had a lace back so you could still see some of this detail through it.

This was a makeup look from several days ago, the eyeshadow is a very hard thing to describe and doesn't translate well in the photo, but it was sort of an iridescent green/brown. Its quite pretty in natural light and I liked the effect. It made my eyelids appear very shiny lol.

I shall leave you with a last photo of a recent outfit (though not much of the outfit can be seen sorry!), I believe the one in which I was wearing the above makeup look if I am not mistaken. I had fun playing around in photoshop with this one, I'm super pale looking in this picture! Also, note the brooch. My great grandmother was the previous owner of it. I have determined that I have a love for certain styles of gaudy vintage costume jewelry!

Ring Alchemy

I have seen the rings with the stretch bands everywhere for some time now and my issue with them is that they never fit my fingers! I have long skinny fingers and the bands always seem to be too big or stretched out already, or the beads used to make them are too big. Its unfortunate because some of them are really pretty.
Soo...I just use a few minutes of my time, and a glue gun, to magically transform them into brooches. Those I wear all the time with scarves, or on jackets, etc.

The previous two I have already done and worn a few times, and the pin backs seem to be held together quite well with the hot glue. The following are items that I have yet to attach the backing to.

Maybe this isn't too impressive but I want to wear those rings too! Just have to do it in a different way. ;)

A Day Out Outfit

A few days ago I ended up going out for the evening and visiting friends etc, and recently I had decided to check out Newport News because of the pretty things that Ms. Kitty of Sophistique Noir shows on her blog. I found some excellent deals, and they had pretty prompt shipping. Two items of the few that I ordered were just the tiniest bit small, and I knew the next size up would be too big - the cut just wouldn't fit my body really - so I just sent those back and am awaiting refunds. The items I bought though were amazing deals! They had a half off everything sale for April Fools day, I took advantage of that for sure!

Anyways, I got two items like the sweater in the photo, the other one in a bright pink. I won't show the other things I got just yet, but eventually! ;)

The back has a lacy cutout type panel down the center. When I take a photo wearing the pink one I shall show that part, since they are identical. I'm pretty happy with my purchases. :)
The following pics are my makeup from that day:
